We have a registered institutional ethics committee (No, ECR/768/Inst/TN/2015) that meets regularly to review the Clinical research projects. The ethics committee has been constituted according to the Rule 122DD and appendix VIII schedule Y of Drugs and cosmetics act, 1940 and rules 1945. The IEC was established to formalize and specify the Institution’s commitment for promoting of high ethical standards in patient care, clinical research, and community interests.
Committees have the authority to approve, reject or stop studies or require modifications to research protocols.The main responsibility of a research ethics committee is to protect potential participants in the research, but it must also take into account potential risks and benefits for the community in which the research will be carried out. Its ultimate goal is to promote high ethical standards in research for health.
