Ophthalmological problems
treated in the Department

This is an eye problem that is mostly seen in older people and can get worse as age advances.

In this condition, the proteins in the natural lens of the eye break down resulting in hazy or blurred vision.

Everything around you may appear cloudy or unclear and less colourful.

Glaucoma is degenerative eye condition, in which the optic nerves of the eyes get damaged because of fluid build-up in the front part of the eyes, which in turn puts pressure on the eyes.

The risk of glaucoma increases with age and it is mostly seen in the 60+ age group.
Glaucoma cannot be cured, and if untreated can cause loss of eyesight.

But, when detected early, glaucoma can be managed well with medications.

This is an eye disorder cause by uncontrolled or untreated diabetes.

In diabetic retinopathy, the blood vessels in the retina may get damaged or there may be abnormal blood vessels.

If not managed, it may eventually lead to loss of vision.
Patients with diabetes must go for regular eye check-ups to rule out any complications.

This is a progressive eye disorder wherein the central vision starts worsening, while the peripheral vision may remain the same.

This condition mostly affects people after 50 years of age.

Smoking, obesity and other lifestyle ailments may be risk factors for macular degeneration.

Other eye conditions treated at our ophthalmology department include dry eye syndrome, squint, conjunctivitis and retinal detachment.

We also treat patients with trauma-related eye problems and conduct reconstructive surgeries.
