About
Organ Transplant Surgery

Organ transplant is the surgical procedure wherein a patient’s damaged organ it could be heart, lung, liver or kidney is replaced with a healthy organ, which has been donated by another person.

In corneal transplant, the affected corneal tissue is replaced with donated, healthy tissue.

There are thousands of people suffering from severe heart or lung failure, liver disorders and end-stage kidney disease in India for whom organ transplantation may be the only solution and donated organs can give a fresh lease of life.

There are two types of organ donations – live and cadaver.

In a live donation (mostly in kidney transplant cases), the patient receives the organ from a living person.

In a cadaver transplant, an organ donated from a ‘brain dead’ person.
