It is a degenerative disease of the joints that gets worse with age. The symptoms are pain and inflammation in the joints such as knee, hip, wrists and joints in the hands. It can impair movement and adversely affects the quality of life.

It is the most common form of arthritis wherein the cartilage, the tissue that cushions bones in the joints, disintegrates because of wear and tear and is mostly brought about by advancing age.

This auto-immune disorder affects the various joints in the body leading to severe pain and discomfort. It is a progressive disease that first affects the tissues lining the joints, and then damages the bone and joints.

This is a disorder in which there are sudden episodes of severe pain in the joints that may last for up to a few weeks. It is characterised by swelling and redness of the joints and most often affects the big toes of the feet.

A chronic condition characterised by pain and tenderness in the muscles, fibromyalgia can lead to lot of discomfort, sleep disturbances and swelling/tingling in certain parts of the body.

This is a rheumatic disorder that causes severe pain and swelling of the spine.

The bones and other tissues around the various joints are cushioned by tiny, fluid-filled pouches called ‘bursae’. Bursitis is a rheumatic condition wherein there is inflammation of the ‘bursae’ leading to severe pain in the joints.

There has been some evidence from studies done on patients affected by the Coronavirus, which show that these individuals may show symptoms of certain autoimmune diseases after recovering from Covid-19. These include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus that affects various parts of the body including skin and joints, and autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, which affects the red blood cells in the body.
