Services

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery, in which orthopaedic surgeons use an arthroscope (a pencil-like instrument with a camera at one end used to see the inside of a joint).

It is an advanced procedure, wherein a small incision is made on the patient’s skin and the arthroscope is inserted to evaluate a bone or joint problem and through another incision, surgical instruments are used to correct the problem.

This procedure has its advantages over conventional surgery as blood loss is less and the incisions are smaller, so healing is faster and the patient can get back to normal activities soon.

This procedure is done for those suffering from recurrent shoulder dislocation, which most often occurs due to wear and tear of ligaments and tissues around the shoulder.

Using arthroscopy, doctors will use small instruments to attach the ligaments and tissues to the bone and stitch them up to stabilise the shoulder joint.

This procedure may be carried out to relieve a patient of severe pain the shoulder joint.

The joint, made up of a ball and socket (glenoid) and there is cartilage between the joint for smooth functioning. When there is wear and tear of the joint, the patient experiences pain.

Using arthroscopic surgery, an orthopaedic surgeon will make small incisions in the shoulder area and replace the ball and socket with artificial components, which will help in smooth movement and relieve pain.

The shoulder joint is surrounded by a number of muscles and tendons called rotator cuff.

When there is a tear in the rotator cuff, orthopaedic surgeons may use arthroscopic procedure to repair the tendons to the upper arm bone.

Using arthroscopic method, orthopaedic surgeons use a graft to replace ligaments in the knee area, which are damaged due to injury.

Doctors at the orthopaedic surgery unit of HMH use their expertise and high-precision technology to perform total knee replacement on one or both knees simultaneously.

This is a surgical procedure to replace the damaged parts of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability.

The diseased part of the knee is replaced with an implant.
The surgery is followed by rehabilitation therapy at the hospital, helping the patient get holistic treatment under one roof.

Our orthopaedic surgeons also perform revision replacement surgeries, wherein a procedure is performed to put in new prosthetics on a patient, who has earlier had a knee replacement surgery and in whom the old prosthetics may no longer work.

Elderly persons with arthritis may have unbearable pain in the hip due to wear and tear of the joint, and may require total hip replacement surgery wherein doctors replace both the ball (femoral head) and socket (acetabulum) in the joint with implants.

In some cases, only the ball is replaced and this is called partial hip replacement.
Young people, who suffer injury to the hip because of an accident or fall, may also undergo this procedure.

Kyphoscoliosis is a spinal deformity, in which the backbone curves abnormally to one side, which also curving backward or towards the front.

For people with a severe form of this spine disorder functioning normally can be difficult, as they have an abnormal hunch.
When the condition cannot be managed through medications or physical therapy, surgery may be recommended.

Our spinal surgeons are skilled in performing correction surgery for kyphoscoliosis, wherein two or more vertebrae may be fused together or rods may be put in to support the spine.

This involves diagnosis and treatment of malignant cancers that affect the musculoskeletal part of the body.

The orthopaedic doctors will use a combination of therapies including surgery, to treat bone and soft tissue cancers or cancers in different organs such as breast or lungs that have spread to the bones.

Children reach puberty or become sexually mature too early for their age. When girls experience puberty at age 8 or before and boys become mature by the time they are 9 years, it is called precocious puberty. The doctor will counsel the child and parents and in some cases, recommend treatment such as hormone therapy.

It is a debilitating condition, in which the tissue that lines the inner wall of the uterus (endometrial tissue) starts growing outside the uterus. This can affect the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the pelvis. Our gynaecologists have the expertise of diagnosing this condition and giving timely treatment to control the symptoms, which include heavy menstrual bleeding, lower abdominal pain and irregular periods.

Fibroids are benign growth that occur on the wall of the uterus and are common among women. Most often they do not pose any problems but if a woman has large or multiple fibroids, it can lead to heavy bleeding and painful periods. Fibroids can be removed through minimally invasive surgery.

These are small sacs filled with fluid that appear on the inner or outer wall of the ovaries and can sometimes cause pain and discomfort.

It is the second most common cancer among women in India, after breast cancer and often goes undetected until it is in an advanced stage. This type of cancer affects the cells in the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus and is caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Early screening and diagnosis can help women get suitable treatment.
